What are the details of the Lifetime Guarantee?

At William Painter we back up the amazing quality of The Empire with an equally exceptional lifetime guarantee.

Our Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty Covers the following: (You will receive a free brand new replacement pair with no time limit restrictions, but you must return your damaged item at your own shipping costs)

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship to the USA, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Spain…just to name a few! When you sign up to back us you’ll be able to see everywhere we offer shipping, and find your country!

If you do not see your country listed, we are currently not able to offer shipping to your location. We want to provide the best shipping possible, and only ship to countries where we can ensure the product will get to the customer.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping will cost $10 for all US orders, and $30 for all international orders. We’ve gathered a lot of data from our past 4 Kickstarter campaigns and their shipping costs, and have regulated the price to be able to accurately cover our expenses.

Do you cover customs charges?

No, unfortunately we are not able to cover customs charges. The customs charges associated with each order vary so drastically from country to country, it is impossible for us to be able to get an accurate measurement of the costs associated, so each backer is responsible for their own customs fees.

What if my glasses don't fit?

We designed the the frames to be able to mold to fit each individual face, so your glasses will adjust to be a perfect fit once you’ve spent a little time wearing them. If for any reason you are not happy with the fit, you can return your glasses under the Lifetime Guarantee!

Are these lenses polarized?

Yes, the Empire lenses are made of the highest quality Japanese nylon, and provide 100% UVA/UVB protection.

What if I need prescription lenses?

The Empire are completely prescription ready. Just take them into your optometrist and they will be able to add prescription lenses for you. Because our sunglasses are so durable, there is no risk of damage to either the existing lenses or the frames when adding your prescription!

How should I clean the lenses?

Every pair of the Empire will come with a custom hardcase and cleaning cloth - perfect for cleaning off your lenses.

Any tips for getting my pair of 'The Empire's' to last longer?

Avoid running over them with you’re car..that’s tip #1. It’s also best to avoid storing the Empire on the collar of your shirt - that can loosen the hinges. Each pair of the Empire will come with a free hardcase, so I highly recommend making use of that when they’re not on your beautiful face.

Can I customize the colors of the frames/lenses?

Beyond our 4 colorways, we don’t offer an further customization. We carefully chose our combinations to make sure there was something to suit everyone’s style (see photos above for reference, and to see all the options available)!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
